At the same time Kai started pushing himself forward, increasing the risk of beaching himself. His feet pushed at the sand frantically, moving himself back and out of range. The giant’s hand grabbed at him, but he was quick to dodge, throwing himself to the ground. With one more step he found the land mine. “Please… what do I have to do to prove myself?” His fiery gaze locked with Kai’s icey glare. I agree with you, humans are terrible! We’ve done horrible things.” He spoke with conviction, taking meaningful steps forward, getting closer and closer. “You know I want to help you, I’m not your enemy. Jonah sighed and walked forward, slow but steady. Kai watched him m, unblinking, and Jonah’s breath came heavy, his chest rose and fell like a small boat lost in a massive storm. Jonah pushed his journal off his lap and started walking to the shore, stopping about halfway down the beach, still out of the whales reach. “I am no liar.” He said with added venom. “I won’t eat you.” His voice, flat and callous as always. “Don’t fancy being eaten today.” Jonah replied warmly, his heart already thumping harder. Blue curls casting a shadow over his eyes, darkening his already cold expression. “Come here” he beckoned, his voice groggy, as he stared down the human. His gray body fading into the deep water with the exception of his tail fin peaking out of the blue. Kai had propelled himself into the shallows, small waves crashing against his forearms where he propped himself up on his stomach. Kai is so striking and fierce, his very presence messed with the chemistry of his being.Ī loud splash alerted Jonah from his rest, his eyes opening to see the behemoth making his appearance on the shore, maybe 30 feet from him. It was hard to explain, and others would call him crazy or that the sea water he’d been drinking is getting to him, and maybe it is but that’s not relevant. The thought of being bitten in half didn’t phase him was more like he wanted to help the whale, and he couldn’t do that if he was in pieces. He was nearly eaten once already…Not that he was scared. If only he could get him to listen…but he found out pretty quick how stubborn Kai could be. The island is running out of resources, food being the big one, not that it had much to begin with but after weeks of being here he's down to his last few coconuts and completely out of fish, and he hasn’t been able to catch more thanks to the giant jaws that suddenly decided he isn’t worth keeping around. The shadow cooled his sunburned skin and jet black hair which nearly grazed his shoulders. ![]() Jonah dozed under the shade off a leafy tree where the beach sand met the forest. It’s like the beast had a sixth sense, like he could feel the movements of the water as if it was his own body…but Jonah was just speculating. ![]() ![]() He-…or Kai, as Jonah started calling him, was last seen quite a distance from the island, but even so the human still was afraid to near the ocean water at all, given how the whale had a habit of repeating and suddenly appearing without warningĭuring his last ‘escape’ attempt Kai had found him on his makeshift raft within minutes. It had been awhile since the giant mer-whale appeared by the shore.
